Happy B.C. Day from all of us at the Public and Private Workers of Canada!
The British Columbia Day Act was first introduced to the Legislative Assembly in 1974 with the aim of the bill to create a statutory holiday to recognize the pioneers in the province, which is also known as B.C. Pioneers Day.
Along with celebrating the triumphs of the pioneers who built the colony of B.C. into the great province it is today, lets also acknowledge the unpleasant legacies of our past. This B.C. Day lets educate ourselves about the First Nations and celebrate the possibilities for a diverse and inclusive path forward.
Enjoy all that our beautiful province has to offer this August long weekend.
