Dear Members,

Thank you all for bestowing on me this incredible honour of being elected President of the Public and Private Workers of Canada. I am truly humbled and grateful for your trust and support. I do believe we have a lot of work to do during challenging economic times, and although I believe there sometimes may be rough roads we will have to travel, there will also be very good times ahead. I hope you all are with us as we stand together, stronger then ever.

First, I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to each and every member of the Public and Private Workers in Canada. Without your dedication, hard work, and commitment, none of this would be possible. It is because of your support that we have achieved great things together.

I also want to acknowledge the incredible work of our union’s National Executive Board, local executive boards, staff, and volunteers. Your passion, expertise, and tireless efforts have been instrumental in advancing the rights and welfare our members have won through collective bargaining. Together, we have fought for and achieved higher wages, safer working conditions, and better benefits.

I am proud to be part of an organization that stands up for the well-being of all workers, regardless of their sector or background. Our union has always strived to be at the forefront of advocating for social justice, equality, and inclusivity. Together, we will continue to courageously fight as our founders, Orville Braaten and Angus McPhee, did so valiantly 60 years ago.

As PPWC President, my focus will be on listening to your needs, representing your interests, and ensuring our union remains strong and united. I am committed to open and transparent communication, and to creating an environment where every member feels heard and valued. As our constitution boldly states, it is our membership on the floor who has the voice.

By working together, we can achieve even greater victories for our members throughout the province. We will strive to build strong relationships with other labour organizations, community groups, and government bodies to further our goals and create positive change.

In closing, I want to thank every one of you for placing your trust and confidence in me. I am honoured to serve as your President and will do everything in my power to uphold the values and principles of our union. Together, we will continue to fight for the rights, dignity, and well-being of all workers.

In Solidarity,

Geoff Dawe
President, Public and Private Workers of Canada
